Sunday's Talk Shows to Highlight Economy

If you are in a mood for economics, today's your day to watch the Sunday news shows, POLITICO reports.

Lawrence Summers, director of the National Economic Council, appears on ABC’s “This Week” and CNN’s “State of the Union,” while Christina Romer, chairwoman of the Council of Economic Advisers, stops by NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Dianna Heitz reports. In the evening, CBS's “60 Minutes” features a taped interview with President Barack Obama, where he takes the banking industry to task, she writes.

The other lineups are as follows, according to Heitz:

Other guests on “Meet” include former Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D-Mich.) and former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-Mass.).

“State of the Union” also talks to Sens. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and John Thune (R-S.D.), and “This Week” also hosts House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.).

CBS’s “Face the Nation” has Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) - and Sens. Jay Rockefeller (D-W.V.), Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.).

“Fox News Sunday” features Sens. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.), Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.), Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) and Rep. Ed Markey (D-Mass.).

TV One’s “Washington Watch” interviews Reps. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.), Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and Emanuel Cleaver (D-Mo.).

Bloomberg’s “Political Capital” has the special U.S. envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan, Richard Holbrooke.

Finally, C-SPAN’s “Newsmakers” hosts Texas Rep. Joe Barton, the ranking Republican on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, who'll take questions from The Hill’s Ben Geman and Coral Davenport of CQPolitics.com.

And don't forget, if you're in the holiday spirit, ABC has “Christmas at the White House: An Oprah Primetime Special.”
